What is
AC-DC power supply?
The AC-DC
power supply converts an AC voltage into a DC voltage, such as a charging
adapter for a mobile terminal. AC power is supplied to general homes and
offices, but most electronic circuits built into electrical appliances operate
on DC voltages such as 5V and 12V. Therefore, AC (alternating current) must be
converted to DC (direct current), which is essential for electrical products.

Some
electric appliances, such as incandescent light bulbs and motor equipment, are
driven by AC voltage and do not require AC-DC conversion. However, recently,
due to heightened awareness of energy saving and power saving, incandescent
light bulbs are being replaced by LED lights driven by DC voltage, and motor
equipment uses a control circuit (microcomputer circuit, etc.) that operates by
DC voltage for more power efficiency. Good inverter control is becoming
popular. Therefore, it can be said that the need for AC-DC power supplies is
increasing.
