AC-DC Conversion Methods

There are two main methods for converting AC voltage to DC voltage: the "transformer method" and the "switching method."

The merits and demerits of both methods are contradictory, and they have been used properly for each product.

AC-DC Conversion

For example, the transformer method is used for small charging adapters because of its advantages such as simple circuit and low cost, and also for audio equipment power supply because of its low noise.

However, recently, due to the widespread use of mobile terminals, small size and light weight have been demanded, and due to the growing demand for energy saving and high efficiency, the power supply of many electric appliances has adopted the switching method.
